Route 66 Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Center (VECCC) in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Veterinary Charge Nurse to provide leadership and high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced emergency setting. This role supervises support staff, guides daily workflow, and supports veterinarians to deliver exceptional patient care.

Ideal candidates have experience as veterinary technicians in emergency/critical care, with prior leadership or charge nurse experience and strong clinical skills, including

Qualifications

• Veterinary technician with experience in emergency and critical care.
• Prior leadership, supervisory, or charge nurse experience.
• Strong clinical skills including IV catheterization, venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring.
• Proficiency with hospital policies and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor support staff; oversee training and onboarding.
• Coordinate staff interviews and performance reviews.
• Ensure medical techniques are used correctly and policies followed.
• Act as liaison between leadership and department staff.
• Improve staff retention and foster growth.
• Maintain inventory and ensure OSHA standards compliance.
• Collaborate with veterinarians and technicians to ensure patient care.
