PetVet Care Centers’ Airport Pet Emergency Clinic in Blountville, Tennessee, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, including preparing and sanitizing surgery suites, restraining and handling patients, and performing clerical duties. Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
• Some tasks involve keyboard work and extended standing/walking.
• Lifting or carrying moderately heavy animals (up to 50 pounds).

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, take weight and vital signs on arrival.
• Triage, perform exams, treatments, and administer medications as directed by licensed staff.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients; assist with restraint and medication administration.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Maintain and operate hospital equipment; document and secure controlled drugs.
• Feed patients as prescribed and monitor appetites; report abnormalities.
• Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and treatment plans.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety; manage kennels and laundry.
• Bath and groom patients staying overnight; ensure proper release.
