Bay Area Pet Hospital in Traverse City, MI, is seeking an experienced emergency veterinarian for our privately owned 24/7 team. The role features three consecutive overnight shifts per week with a second swing vet on duty in the evenings to support emergencies.

Prospective candidates should have a passion for emergency and critical care medicine, excellent client communication, and the ability to delegate tasks to support staff.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD degree and valid US veterinary license.
• Experience in emergency/critical care medicine preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly with clients and team.

Job description

Bay Area Pet Hospital is a privately owned 24/7 emergency hospital in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan.

Our consistent scheduling allows our veterinarians to enjoy their days off and take advantage of living in such a beautiful, vibrant area. Traverse City, MI is located on beautiful Grand Traverse Bay. It is considered a vacation town especially for summer boaters and winter skiers and is home to miles of beaches, lakes, rivers, hiking trails and both downhill ski resorts and Nordic trails. The area boasts dozens of amazing local restaurants, wineries and microbreweries, many of which can be reached by water or via the winter snowshoe trail.

This position is scheduled 3 consecutive overnight shifts per week. A second swing shift veterinarian is also on duty through the evening hours. Emergency veterinarians are expected to be comfortable with emergency surgery including gastropexy, splenectomy, enterotomy, intestinal resection, and Caesarian section. Surgical mentorship is available for those seeking more experience before performing these procedures on their own.

We offer a competitive salary ($200-230k based on experience and proficiency), fully paid medical insurance, a matching 401-k, annual CE allowance, $5,250/year tuition reimbursement, VIN membership, professional licensure, AVMA professional liability insurance, and PTO for each vacation, sick time, and CE attendance.
