An outstanding opportunity is available for an experienced Emergency Veterinarian in Santa Fe, NM, joining a veterinarian-owned 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital with an expanding inpatient team.
Offering $170,000$220,000 and a schedule of just 10 twelve-hour shifts per month, this position is particularly well suited to a veterinarian who enjoys complex case management, inpatient medicine and ICU care. Rather than moving rapidly between appointments, you'll have the opportunity to follow high-acuity patients throughout their hospitalization and play an important role in their care from admission through discharge.
This established 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital is veterinarian-owned, creating a clinical environment where leadership remains closely involved in day-to-day hospital operations and decision-making.
The hospital brings together emergency clinicians, critical care, specialty services and experienced veterinary technicians, providing a collaborative environment for managing complex and critically ill patients.
This structure provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced emergency veterinarian who particularly enjoys the medical and inpatient side of emergency practice, with the ability to take greater ownership over complex hospitalized cases.
You’ll work a full-time schedule of approximately 10 twelve-hour shifts per month, with a mixture of shifts across the hospital’s 24/7 operation. This creates substantial time away from the hospital while maintaining exposure to challenging emergency and critical-care medicine.
Emergency surgery is not required for this position. Veterinarians who enjoy surgery are welcome to take on appropriate procedures, while those looking to develop their surgical confidence can scrub in and gain additional exposure alongside experienced colleagues.
The position also provides opportunities to:
Santa Fe offers a distinctive combination of mountain scenery, outdoor recreation, culture and year-round sunshine, making it an exceptional place to build a career while maintaining an active life outside of work.
The surrounding landscape provides extensive opportunities for hiking, skiing, mountain biking and exploring New Mexico’s wilderness, while the city itself is internationally known for its art, architecture, restaurants and cultural heritage. Santa Fe's galleries, markets and renowned food scene give the city a character unlike many other destinations in the Southwest.
For an emergency veterinarian working a condensed shift schedule, Santa Fe provides an especially appealing setting. With only around 10 scheduled shifts per month, there is meaningful time available to enjoy the mountains, explore the wider region or simply make the most of life outside the hospital.
