Job summary

Emergency Veterinary Care Centers (EVCC) seeks an Emergency Veterinarian to join our veterinarian-led team serving pets and their families across Wisconsin. You’ll work in a fast-paced, supportive environment focused on compassionate, high‑quality emergency medicine.

You’ll diagnose and treat a wide range of emergencies, perform lifesaving procedures, collaborate with a skilled team, maintain records, and pursue ongoing learning with CE stipends and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AVMA-accredited DVM program.
• Current veterinary license or eligibility in Wisconsin.
• Experience in emergency or high-volume practice preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and compassionate bedside manner.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat diverse emergency cases with a collaborative team.
• Perform lifesaving procedures and surgeries as needed.
• Develop case-specific treatment plans with the veterinary team.
• Utilize diagnostics to make timely medical decisions.

Who We Are

Emergency Veterinary Care Centers was created by veterinarians, for veterinarians—and for the communities they serve. Founded by 36 local general practice veterinarians (many of whom are still actively involved today), EVCC was built to support the veterinary community by providing trusted emergency‑only care when primary care veterinarians are closed.

Today, EVCC has six locations across the Midwest, and we’re continuing to grow into communities that need access to high‑quality emergency veterinary care.

Our upcoming Kenosha location will be our seventh hospital and our first in Wisconsin. We’re building it with the goal of providing compassionate, around‑the‑clock emergency care to pets and the people who love them.

Your Role as an Emergency Veterinarian

As an Emergency Veterinarian at EVCC, you’ll be there when pets and their families need you most. You’ll see a diverse range of emergency cases, make critical decisions, perform lifesaving procedures, and work alongside a highly skilled support team to deliver exceptional patient care.

You’ll also have the opportunity to become the person your clients remember as their pet’s “superhero”—the one who was there when they were scared, overwhelmed, and needed someone they could trust.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Diagnose and treat a wide range of emergency conditions, including trauma, seizures, respiratory distress, and other urgent conditions
• Perform emergency surgeries and procedures as needed
• Develop case‑specific treatment plans in collaboration with the veterinary team
• Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and technology to make informed, timely medical decisions
• Communicate with compassion and provide clear support and guidance to pet owners
• Maintain accurate and thorough medical records
• Stay current on advancements in emergency veterinary medicine
• Work collaboratively with your veterinary and support teams to deliver exceptional patient outcomes
• Help create a positive, supportive environment for your teammates

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• Graduate of an AVMA‑accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program
• State veterinary license in good standing or eligibility to obtain one
• Experience in emergency or high‑volume veterinary practice preferred
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to think quickly on your feet
• Ability to remain calm, focused, and compassionate in a fast‑paced environment
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a compassionate bedside manner
• Ability to build trust and strong relationships with clients—both human and furry
• A team‑first attitude and willingness to collaborate with the people around you
