Job summary

Animal Emergency of South Orange County (AESOC) is a 24/7/365 emergency veterinary hospital, part of Thrive Pet Healthcare, serving dogs, cats and supportive exotics. We seek a Part-Time Veterinary Assistant or RVT to join the emergency team in Mission Viejo, CA.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced setting, supports vets, maintains records, assists with diagnostics and surgery, and provides outstanding client service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year as Veterinary Assistant/Tech
• Emergency/urgent care experience preferred
• RVT license preferred but not required
• RECOVER CPR certification a plus
• Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills
• Excellent customer service and professionalism
• Ability to multitask and stay calm in emergencies
• Passion for patient advocacy and quality care
• Self-motivated with attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians in high-quality patient care and client education
• Maintain efficient patient flow and maximize productivity
• Provide treatments, diagnostics, procedures, and surgical support per CA Veterinary Practice Act
• Obtain accurate patient histories and communicate care plans to clients
• Monitor hospitalized and emergency patients; report changes
• Assist with emergency triage and patient assessments
• Maintain medical records in hospital software
• Safely restrain patients and follow safety protocols
• Keep treatment, lab, and exam areas clean and organized
• Mentor teammates and promote a collaborative environment
• Uphold standards for patient care and teamwork
