Job summary

MedVet is hiring an Urgent Care Registered Veterinary Technician in Ohio to support our emergency and specialty teams. The role requires state RVT licensure and prior veterinary experience, with a focus on client communication, treatment planning, and in-hospital nursing care.

You’ll work closely with DVMs and care teams to evaluate patients, manage anesthesia, perform in-house labs, and educate clients on care plans and medications.

Qualifications

• RVT license is required.
• Previous veterinary emergency experience preferred.
• Proficient in drug calculations, CRI, conversions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to cover shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Collaborate with patient care team on treatment plans and nursing care.
• Educate clients on home care, medications and hospital care.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide nursing care and monitoring for hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house and prep samples for outside lab testing.
