Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.
• Two years of veterinary assistant experience

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners and show to examining room; record weight and vital signs.
• Triage patients; perform exams and administer medications as directed by LVTs.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with medications and restraint.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment (EKG, pumps, scales, monitors).
• Fill prescriptions; document medications and manage controlled drugs.
• Feed and monitor patient appetites; report abnormalities.
• Communicate positively with clients and explain care options.
• Educate clients about insurance, wellness and plans.
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and safety; handle chemicals properly.
• Bath and groom patients staying overnight; ensure clean release.
• Follow DVM/LVT directions and maintain medical records.
• Attend shifts regularly; full-time presence on all shifts.
• Promote hospital products and services; support the organization.
• Respond promptly to directions from veterinary staff.
• May perform additional duties as assigned by Manager.
