Job summary

Freightliner of Hartford is seeking a qualified Heavy Truck Technician to service emergency vehicles. On-site at Five Star Fire, you will perform inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on heavy trucks and related equipment.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years' experience, owns their tools, and may have EVT and ASE certifications. CDL is preferred. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for EVT certification advancement.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience working on Emergency Vehicles, Heavy Duty Trucks, and/or RVs.
• Possess your own tools.
• EVT certification a plus; you will be expected to achieve EVT Level II within one year.
• ASE certification a plus.
• A valid Driver’s License with clean driving record; CDL preferred but not required.
• Must be able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and replace components on engines, fuel, air, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Repair and service equipment components such as light towers, reels, and charging systems.
• Repair pumps and electrical/light systems for brands like Waterous, Hale, Darley, Akron, Elkhart.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and test emergency vehicle pumps per NFPA standards.
• Complete preventive maintenance inspections and document work orders.
• Verify equipment is 0% comeback rate after servicing.
• Assist lower-level mechanics with diagnosis and issues.
• May work on other vehicle types based on shop flow.
