Job summary

Bulldog Fire Apparatus, Inc. in Nesquehoning, PA is seeking a Mechanical Diesel Heavy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain fire apparatus such as trucks and ambulances.

This full‑time role requires strong electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills and the ability to work with diesel engines, pumps, and aerial devices. You will perform routine service, repairs, and preventive maintenance, use diagnostic tools, and coordinate safety with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience preferred in heavy‑duty truck or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Strong electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills are crucial.
• ASE and EVT certifications are not required, but highly desirable.
• Heavy truck inspection license a plus.
• A CDL, Class A or B is not required, but highly desirable to operate, road‑test, and transport.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently.
• Must supply own tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine service and repairs on heavy‑duty truck chassis, engines, transmissions, braking systems (including air brakes), and electrical systems
• Repair fire pumps, aerial devices (ladders), and emergency lighting/communications systems
• Utilize advanced diagnostic technology and computer software to identify malfunctions in diesel fuel systems, hydraulics, and electrical components
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
• Wear and maintain all required PPE
• Comply with all safety regulations
• Support team members with vehicle repair and prep tasks as needed
