Job summary

MemorialCare in Long Beach, CA seeks a Unit Secretary to support the Emergency Services unit during nights. You will perform clerical duties, maintain patient charts, coordinate with physicians and staff, and help ensure efficient patient flow.

Candidates should have 1+ year of unit secretary experience, familiarity with medical terminology, and a related certificate. BCLS certification and RN program exposure are valued; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of recent Unit Secretary or Ward Clerk experience preferred.
• Proficient in Medical Terminology preferred.
• Certificate of completion of a formal Unit Secretary program.
• CNA/EDT experience or one semester in an accredited RN program.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current American Heart Association BCLS certification.
• Completion of Medical Terminology class preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs clerical tasks to support unit operations.
• Files orders, reports and patient information into charts promptly.
• Maintains safe, organized nursing station and workflow.
• Requests supplies and prepares charts for forms daily.
• Answers phones and communicates with physicians, patients' families, and other departments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
