UCHealth in Pueblo West, CO, seeks an EMT to provide emergent/urgent patient care under physicians, PAs, and nurses. The role is full-time, onsite in PPW Emergency Room with a 72-hour/2-week schedule and a flex shift. Pay ranges $18.40–$27.60 per hour, dependent on experience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Performs technical procedures as delegated: IV access, specimen collection, wound care, transport; may perform ECGs and telemetry.
  • Assists physicians and nurses with examinations, minor procedures, orthopedic treatment, and resuscitation.
  • Reports abnormal findings to medical/nursing staff.
  • Supports patient flow, keeps rooms clean, stocked, and orderly.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, decisive judgement, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Work Schedule: Full Time, 72.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)


Shift: Flex


Pay: $18.40 – $27.60 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant’s relevant experience


This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option


Summary

Provides emergent/urgent patient care under the direction of a physician, physician’s assistant, and/or registered nurse.


Responsibilities


  • Performs technical procedures as delegated, including establishing IV access, collecting specimens, providing wound care, and transporting patients. May perform ECGs and vital statistics/telemetry monitoring.


  • Assists physicians and nurses with performing medical procedures, including examinations, minor surgical interventions, orthopedic treatment, and resuscitation.


  • Reports abnormal assessment findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to medical/nursing staff.


  • Assists with patient flow and keeping patient rooms clean, stocked, and orderly.


  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.



Requirements


  • HS Diploma or GED.


  • Current State Licensure as an EMT with IV certification, or EMT-I.


  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
