Job summary

UCHealth University of Colorado Health in Fort Collins, CO is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician with IV certification for an onsite PRN role in the PVH MRI department. The EMT provides emergent patient care under physicians, PAs, and RNs, with opportunities to advance through UCHealth’s career ladder.

The position requires EMT licensure (EMT-I/EMT-B), a valid IV certification, and BLS/CPR. Pay ranges from $19.10 to $24.83 per hour and health benefits are available to employees.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• Current State Licensure as an EMT with IV certification, or EMT-I.
• BLS/CPR certification through AHA/Red Cross and valid through start date.

Responsibilities

• Establish IV access, collect specimens, provide wound care, and transport patients.
• Assist physicians and nurses with examinations, minor procedures, orthopedic treatment, and resuscitation.
• Report abnormal findings to medical staff and changes in patient conditions.
• Help with patient flow and keep rooms clean, stocked, and orderly.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and decisive judgment.

Summary

Provides emergent/urgent patient care under the direction of a physician, physician's assistant, and/or registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical procedures as delegated, including establishing IV access, collecting specimens, providing wound care, and transporting patients. May perform ECGs and vital statistics/telemetry monitoring.
• Assists physicians and nurses with performing medical procedures, including examinations, minor surgical interventions, orthopedic treatment, and resuscitation.
• Reports abnormal assessment findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to medical/nursing staff.
• Assists with patient flow and keeping patient rooms clean, stocked, and orderly.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED.
• Current State Licensure as an EMT with IV certification, or EMT-I.
  
• BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
