Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's YRMC is seeking an Emergency Room Tech to support safe patient care in the ED. You will assist with diagnostics, patient transport and clerical tasks, under RN or physician supervision, contributing to a safe and efficient environment.

Roles emphasize performing delegated tasks, staying compliant with standards, and promoting patient comfort. Prior ED or pre-hospital experience is preferred, with state certifications required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• EMT/BLS/CNA/LNA/PCT certifications or equivalent required.
• Basic EKG class completion with competency within 6–9 months.
• BLS certification required by American Heart Association.
• YRMC IV Course completion and IV insertion competency required.
• Six adult IV insertions under RN supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care per nursing standards, policies and procedures.
• Assist with patient assessment and planning.
• Identify abnormal findings and communicate to RN.
• Follow directions from RN, Charge, or leadership.
• Perform IV starts on specified patient populations as approved.
• Promote patient comfort and safe environment.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

EMT-Basic EMT-Paramedic CNA or LNA or PCT certification

Basic EKG class with competency

American Heart Association BLS certification

IV course (YRMC IV Course) completion

IV insertion competency for adults (6 successful insertions)

Job description

*Job Summary and Responsibilities*

As our Emergency Room Tech, you will support safe, cost-efficient patient care in the Emergency Department, performing delegated functions from the RN or Physician.

Every day you will conduct selected diagnostics and procedures, assist with patient transport and lifting, and provide general clerical and cleaning support to the unit.

To be successful in this role you will effectively execute delegated tasks, support unit operations, and contribute to a safe and efficient environment.

• Provides patient care according to established nursing standards, policies and procedures
• Assists with patient assessment and planning
• Recognizes and communicates abnormal findings and/or changes in patient status to RN
• Follows through with specific tasks as directed by the RN, Charge or department leadership
• Performs IV starts on specific patient populations as approved and directed
• Assists in promoting patient comfort, i.e. positioning, providing restful environment, measures to reduce pain

Scheduled shifts and training will be at East and West Campus

Job Requirements* Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Certification of completion of technician education in a specific area and specialty e.g. EMT-Basic EMT-Paramedic CNA or LNA or PCT (patient care technician)
• Completion of Basic EKG class and demonstration of competency in EKG rhythm identification within six (6) months or previous EKG rhythm identification experience and demonstration of competency within ninety (90) days of hire
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification
• Successful completion of the following within ninety (90) days
• YRMC IV Course
• IV insertion competency checklist for adults
• Six (6) successful adult IV insertions performed under the supervision of an RN

Preferred

• One (1) year of pre-hospital or Emergency Department experience
• Certified Nursing Assistant License: AZ (CNA:AZ)
• Emergency Medical Technician: AZ (EMT:AZ)
