Job summary

Peace Over Violence is hiring an Emergency Services Case Manager I to provide crisis intervention and direct services to survivors of sexual and domestic violence in the Los Angeles area.

The role involves coordinating with partners across healthcare, law enforcement, and social services, maintaining client confidentiality, and supporting clients through court processes and community resources.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of domestic violence, teen dating violence, sexual assault, child sexual assault, violence prevention approaches, and related issues.
• Completed or intended to complete Peace Over Violence 82 hour Counselor Advocate Training or equivalent.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with criminal justice and social services agencies including City Attorney, LADA, Law Enforcement, Court personnel.
• Provide crisis counseling, support, and resources to clients, in person or via the 24-hour hotline, as needed.
• Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
• Strong community organizing and mobilizing skills with a commitment to social justice.
• Capacity to work with diverse populations in a non-judgmental manner.

Responsibilities

• Assist in staffing the 24-hour Crisis Line/SART Team during business hours, weeknights, and weekends.

Full Time, Monday-Friday with flexibility for evenings and weekends due to 24 hr. response duties

SUMMARY

Peace Over Violence (POV) has a position available for someone with a passion for helping others and a commitment to developing community resources in the Los Angeles (Metro) and West San Gabriel Valley area. The Emergency Services Case Manager I (ESC) provides face‑to‑face crisis intervention and assistance for survivors of sexual and domestic (IPV) violence. This position assist survivors as they maneuver through various systems, while empowering them on their path to healing. We are seeking someone who is resourceful and has the ability to facilitate and maintain community partnerships while working with various partners including health care professionals, criminal justice, victim witness, and law enforcement as part of our SART team. The ESC is a vital part of POV’s Intervention Division‑Emergency Response Team program. We are seeking someone who is charismatic, nurturing, empowering and a community builder. Candidate must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of sexual assault and/or domestic violence, child abuse/neglect, stalking, elder abuse interventions.

DUTIES

Provide direct services, including telephone or face‑to‑face crisis intervention counseling, advocacy, follow up and referrals to Sexual Violence and/or Domestic Violence survivors.

Identify client needs and assist in accessing services.

Interface with POV’s case managers, legal advocacy program, SART, DART , Prevention Division and Hotline staff to ensure program cohesion.

Maintain Confidentiality per agency policies.

Respond in -person to local SART Centers, police stations and/or emergency room hospitals to support survivors during work shift. Due to Response Team duties, applicants must be able to respond to area Hospitals and police stations within 1 hour.

Educate survivors about the dynamics of sexual and domestic violence and available resources.

Coordinate response team activities and communicate with law enforcement, social services, medical professionals, other community agencies.

Delivery community outreach and educational presentations, workshops, and professional trainings in the community.

Assist in staffing the 24 hour Crisis Line/SART Team during business hours, weeknights and weekends as assigned.

Assist in the training, support and supervision of program volunteers during on call shifts.

Case Management Duties:

Provide comprehensive case management services; conduct needs assessments, safety planning assist with obtaining restraining orders,

Provide accompaniment services/ advocacy to clients to support them during court hearing, police interviews, LADA or City Attorney interview and other pre‑determined locations as needed, maintaining an assigned caseload

Prepare case service plan and goals for clients.

Assist survivors with Safe at Home and California Victims Compensation Board application.

Advocate with community partners including housing, Calworks, County services providers, law enforcement, Department of Children family services and other organizations.

Accompany clients to police interviews, court hearings, and other locations as needed.

Help clients prepare for court hearings or other scheduled meetings.

Keep accurate and up to date case files.

Conduct counseling intakes as needed.

Prepare monthly reports

Participate in supervision, staff and case management meetings.

Flexible schedule -- capacity to work some weekends and/or evenings

This position requires someone who is willing to work various work schedules; 6:00am to 2:30pm, 1:00pm to 9:30pm, and/or 9:30pm to 6:00am. This position requires flexibility in scheduling and job function as some services require 24 hour coverage including during holidays most notably –but not necessarily limited to – Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s

Automobile with a valid driver's license and insurance and/or reliable public transportation skills
