Job summary

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) invites applications for a Safety Officer with the Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT). You will develop safety plans, brief on safety, mitigate hazards, respond to incidents, and prepare reports.

You may deploy within two hours of notice and participate in trainings and exercises to strengthen safety leadership across operations. Desirable candidates bring emergency management experience, ICS Safety Officer credentials, and

Qualifications

• Experience leading or supporting emergency response operations.
• Credential as Safety Officer under CEC, NQS, CIOS or equivalent.
• Experience as Safety Officer in the Incident Command System (ICS).
• Experience with occupational health and safety functions.
• Ability to communicate with diverse groups and disciplines.
• Knowledge of Cal OES acts, regulations, and core mission.
• Ability to build relationships with agencies and stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and multi-project management.
