Rochester Regional Health is seeking an Emergency Room Tech to assist in the Canton-Potsdam Hospital ED. This per diem role supports nurses and practitioners, performs vital signs, EKGs, venipuncture, and patient care tasks, and helps with admissions, discharges, and room stocking.

The position requires a High School Diploma and Safe Patient Handling training, with preferred EKG, phlebotomy, and medical terminology experience; moderate physical duties and on-call shifts are expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide CPR during emergency code situations
• Perform EKG's on ED patients as ordered by Practitioner

SUMMARY

Provides direct or indirect patient care in accordance with treatment plans as determined/delegated by a licensed nurse or Practitioner. Assists with tasks necessary for the general organization of the ED Dept., being flexible meeting patient and/or unit needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide direct patient care and indirect activities to facilitate smooth running ED
• Provide safe and competent care of patients, to include ambulation, transferring or lifting of patients
• Take patient vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pain level

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20-50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.

PAY RANGE:

$21.95 - $31.33 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
