Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health seeks an Emergency Room Technician to support nursing staff in delivering patient care and comfort in a fast-paced ER.

The role involves assisting with vital signs, basic procedures, and communicating abnormalities to the team under supervision; a high school diploma or GED and CPR certification are required or preferred, with nursing assistant experience welcome.

Job description

• The Emergency Room Technician performs various patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Assists the professional nursing staff by performing any delegated duties, specialized procedures, and assists with care of seriously ill patients.

SUPERVISION:

Reports directly to Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Under the direction of the Licensed Nurse provides physical patient care in a safe manner.
• Communicates abnormal variances of data (vital signs, pain, etc) to appropriate staff.
• Consistently utilizes basic decision making skills to complete routine tasks.
• Competently performs unit specific procedures.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• CPR certified.
• Nursing assistant experience preferred, but not required.
