Job summary

LewisGale Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Room in Salem, Virginia. The RN coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with the care team, following established nursing models and hospital standards.

Responsibilities include pain assessment, timely documentation, prompt response to patient needs, patient education, and enabling self-management strategies for patients and families.

Qualifications

• ACLS within 1 year of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 1 year of employment start date.
• RN—Registered Nurse.
• Bachelor's or Associate Degree required.
• BCLS Instructor within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly and promote effective pain management.
• Document care in patient records promptly and thoroughly.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about conditions, care plans, medications, and follow-up steps.
• Prepare patients and families for self-management and lifestyle changes.
