The HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital invites an Emergency Room Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to coordinate care and ensure timely, compassionate treatment.

You will be expected to assess pain, perform procedures, educate patients and families, and support evidence-based practices while adhering to nursing standards and the hospital's mission.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree or diploma required and RN licensure in the state of practice.
• ACLS and BCLS certifications required within stated timeframes.
• Less than 1 year of applicable nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management and reassess after interventions.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the provider and document care.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs to deliver exceptional care.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up measures.
• Explain non-medicinal follow-up measures (diet, exercise) and prepare for future self-management.

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred

RN License in the state of practice

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 30 days

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

What Qualifications You Will Need

• Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred
• < 1 year applicable experience
• Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
