Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a qualified Paramedic to provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department under RN direction. You will monitor vital signs, initiate respiratory support, assist with procedures and coordinate care with the nursing and medical team.

The role requires NC Paramedic certification, current BLS, and at least 1 year of paramedic experience. You must maintain patient safety and confidentiality, demonstrate composure under pressure,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Paramedic certification by the State of North Carolina required.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) as sponsored by American Heart Association required.
• 1 year experience as a paramedic required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain, record and update vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and weight).
• Monitor patient’s respiratory status and initiate oxygen therapy and treatments per protocol.
• Initiates cardiac monitoring; detect dysrhythmias and notify RN/provider.
• Administers approved medications as delegated by RN and/or provider.
• Assist in airway management and suctioning as needed.
• Monitor and transport patients, including telemetry patients and those on IV infusions.
• Documents assessments and treatments on patient care records.
• Act as liaison between patient, family, nursing unit and medical staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
