Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is seeking a part-time ER Registration clerk for the Burnet Campus with an evening shift. The role includes ensuring accurate data entry across Revenue Cycle, Health Information Management and Regulatory systems, and maintaining patient safety and confidentiality at all times.

Responsibilities include coordinating with clinical and support staff, authenticating regulatory documentation, and assisting families with admissions, scheduling and discharge

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

  • Communicates system errors to management or recommends changes to the system.
  • Completes and authenticates documents to ensure regulatory compliance (JCAHO, CMS, ODH).
  • Ensures patient safety by identifying the correct patient, identifying special needs, and preparing isolation precautions when Infectious Disease indicators are present.
  • Manages patient information and assists with patient registration, scheduling, admission, discharge and short stay while protecting confidentiality.

Additional pay (e.g., shift, on‑call, or weekend differentials) and benefits may apply. Annual pay may vary based on FTE status.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Systems & Process - Supports the Revenue Cycle, Health Information Management, and Regulatory by ensuring that the necessary data, information and forms are obtained and accurately entered into the appropriate system.
  • Talks to management to explain system errors or to recommend changes to the system.
  • Compliance - Completes and authenticates all documents and questionnaires that ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (JCAHO, CMS, ODH).
  • Safety - Ensures patient safety by identifying the correct patient. identifying special needs, and preparing isolation precautions for patients who have Infectious Disease indicators.
  • Patient Responsibility - Responds to communication systems/patient alarms and executes with a sense of urgency. Ensures that within the division, all areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective, and efficient environment for patients, families, visitors, and employees. Maintains awareness of patient location and monitors traffic flow at front desk and on the unit. Reports maintenance (wiping down monitors, troubleshooting printer issues, logging off information, etc.) and environmental service needs to appropriate division and follows up to ensure completion. Collaborates with clinical, admitting information systems, and environmental services staff to coordinate efficient patient flow. Provides assistance and services to patients, families, staff and external agencies in the accurate completion of patient registration and documentation for admission, scheduling, discharge, and short stay. Investigates and resolves customer requests, questions or problems according to CCHMC policies and procedures. Contacts outside representatives to request information or assistance in resolving problems.
  • Patient Information - Maintains confidentiality, protects and safeguards patient/family personal medical and financial information at all times during collection, use and storage. Access only information and records necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position.
