Job summary

Emergency Veterinary Care Centers (EVCC) Mishawaka is seeking a licensed veterinary technician (LVT) for the Swing Shift to join our emergency-focused team. You will work on the front lines of urgent care, bridging day and night services while delivering top-tier nursing care.

You will assist doctors, perform diagnostics and treatments, manage anesthesia for critical patients, and advocate for pets and their families in high-stress moments. EVCC values collaboration and growth.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician required.
• 2+ years of veterinary ER experience preferred.
• Strong communication and calm under pressure.
• Able to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Triage and treat patients and support pet parents through emergencies.
• Provide nursing care, treatments, and emotional support in critical moments.
• Administer medications, monitoring, IVs/CRIs, and blood products.
• Collaborate with doctors to shape treatment plans and ensure smooth care flow.
• Handle diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and tubes placement.

Your Role as an LVT (Swing Shift)

As an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician on our Swing Shift, you’re part of a team that thrives on the front lines of emergency veterinary care, where every second counts. Working during one of our busiest and most dynamic times of day, you'll help bridge daytime and overnight care, ensuring seamless patient treatment and exceptional client support.

You’ll handle a wide range of cases, from minor to complex emergencies, collaborating with our doctors and team to deliver gold-standard, emotionally intelligent care. You’ll jump into triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing, all while being a steady, compassionate presence for pet parents during some of their most stressful moments.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the fast pace and variety of emergency medicine, wants to practice at the top of their license (and beyond), continue growing their skills, and make a meaningful difference for pets and the people who love them when they need it most.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Treat every patient and person like they matter — because they do! You keep people and pets together and stay by their side through tests, treatments, and everything in between
• Jump into action, delivering nursing care, treatments, and emotional support in the most critical moments, from triage to discharge
• Bring the meds, the monitoring, and the mastery - from IVs and CRIs to blood transfusions and beyond
• Communicate like a teammate and think like a leader, helping shape plans and keep care flowing
• All the techy stuff - from diagnostics and imaging to sample collection and placing tubes
• Anesthesia, even for our most fragile patients? You’ve got it.
• Use all the cutting - edge techniques in your toolkit: advanced lines (jugular catheters, arterial lines), ultrasound and more
• Identify subtle changes in patient status and advocate accordingly

Who Thrives Here

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• Are a Licensed Veterinary Technician (Associate’s + VTNE passed)
• Have 2+ years of veterinary experience (ER preferred but not required)
• Basic computer skills and a comprehension of practice management software and electronic medical record keeping
• Excellent communicator and calm under pressure; ready to lend a hand to support those around you
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor as well as ability to lift up to 40lbs on own and able to support up to 80Ibs with assistance
• Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis based on hospital needs
• Work well in a fast-paced environment with people from all backgrounds and different personality types
