Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a qualified physician to provide urgent and primary care to veterans.

The role supports Education Debt Reduction Program eligibility, a comprehensive federal benefits package, and a Monday–Friday schedule with potential shift needs to meet patient care demands. Candidates must hold an MD or DO and be licensed in the United States, with board certification preferred or on track.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from a school approved for VA physician appointments
• Current, full and unrestricted medical license in the US (state/territory/DC)
• Board certification preferred or eligible for board certification
• Experience in primary care, emergency medicine, urgent care, or internal medicine may be required

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses or urgent medical conditions
• Perform focused histories, physical examinations, and develop treatment plans
• Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and EKGs
• Prescribe medications and perform minor procedures within clinical privileges
• Coordinate transfers to higher levels of care when needed
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
