Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to perform a range of clinical duties, including patient histories, exams, and care planning. You will write orders, interpret tests, and coordinate with physicians and the care team to ensure high-quality patient care.

The role requires an accredited PA program, NY license, NCCPA certification, and current BLS. You will contribute to discharge planning and post-discharge instructions while supporting performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree; ARC-PA accredited PA program.
• Current NYS PA license is required.
• Current NCCPA certification is required.
• Current BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations.
• Develops and communicates the plan of care and follows up as needed.
• Performs daily patient rounds.
• Writes orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
• Interprets laboratory and test results.
• Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other care providers to ensure quality care.
• Notes discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals on patient charts at discharge.
• Informs patients of necessary post-discharge care instructions.
• Performs related duties as required; these are essential functions under the ADA.
