Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN seeks an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Emergency Medicine team in the Emergency Department Observation Unit (EDOU). The role emphasizes independent practice, collaboration with physicians, and 24/7/365 coverage for time-limited evaluations and treatments.

Responsibilities include comprehensive assessments, tests, prescriptions, and performing procedures, with a focus on timely disposition and escalation of care when needed.

Qualifications

• Master's-prepared NP with current Minnesota RN license and NP certification.
• PA with NCCPA certification and Minnesota PA registration.
• DEA registration required; BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS required.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent NP/PA assessments, orders, and interpretations.
• Prescribe pharmacological agents and educate patients.
• Perform procedures (laceration repair, I&D, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, ultrasound-guided access).
• Reassess, escalate when needed, and determine disposition.
