Job summary

Prime Healthcare's Olympia Fields Hospital in Olympia Fields, IL is seeking a full-time Clinical Pharmacist for the Emergency Department.

Responsibilities include coordinating pharmacy department activities, direct patient care, interdisciplinary rounding, patient counseling, and participation in care committees, across General Medicine, ICU, OB/Gyn, Pediatrics, Emergency Care, Oncology, and more.

Qualifications

  • Current state Registered Pharmacist License.
  • B.S. degree in Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred.
  • Completion of PGY-1 or >3 years of qualifying experience required.
  • Postgraduate clinical training PGY-2 preferred.
  • Board certification in a BPS clinical specialty preferred.
  • BLS Required.
  • ACLS Preferred.
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy operations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate pharmacy department activities to provide high-quality pharmaceutical care.
  • Conduct 50%+ of time in direct patient care including rounding, counseling, and participation in patient care committees.
  • Initiate, modify, or discontinue patient-specific pharmacotherapy in collaboration with other health professionals.
  • Provide care across General Medicine/Surgical, ICU, OB/Gyn, Pediatrics, Emergency Care, Oncology, Peri-operative, Geriatrics and Outpatient Services.

Overview

Department: Clinical Pharmacy - Emergency Department

Shift: Full Time; Days;

Facility: Olympia Fields Hospital

Location: Olympia Fields, IL

Compensation Range: $113k to $164k

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and clinical coordinator (if applicable), coordinates the activities of the pharmacy department to provide the highest quality of pharmaceutical care to all patients served by the hospital, while ensuring patient safety. Conducts 50% or more of professional time in direct patient care activities including but not limited to interdisciplinary rounding, patient counseling, or participation in patient care committees. Provision of direct patient care encompasses activities such as the direct observation and evaluation of the patient and his/her medication-related needs; the initiation, modification, or discontinuation of patient-specific pharmacotherapy; and the ongoing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and follow—up of patients in collaboration with other health professionals. The scope of patient care provided may include: General Medicine/Surgical, Intensive Care Services, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Emergency Care, Oncology, Peri-operative, Geriatrics and Outpatient Services.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • 1. Current state Registered Pharmacist License.
  • 2. B.S. degree in Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred.
  • 3. Completion of postgraduate clinical training (PGY-1) or > 3 years of qualifying experience required.
  • 4. Postgraduate clinical training PGY-2 preferred.
  • 5. Board certification in a Board of Pharmacy Specialties clinical specialty preferred.
  • 6. BLS Required
  • 7. ACLS Preferred
  • 8. Experience in hospital pharmacy operations preferred.
