Job summary

SMG System Medical Group in Wetzel County, WV, is seeking a part-time Advanced Practice Professional (APP) to join the Emergency Medicine team. The role involves independent patient assessment, diagnosis, and management within the APP scope of practice, with collaborations across physicians, nurses, and staff.

The position offers clinical responsibilities in the Emergency Department and post-discharge ambulatory care, with expected adherence to state laws and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure, as a professional RN and APRN in West Virginia.
• American Heart Association BLS, ACLS and ATLS certification required.
• ARC-PA approved PA program graduate.
• Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required.

Responsibilities

• Manages comprehensive and individualized care for emergency medicine patients and their families in the DEM and immediate post discharge in the ambulatory setting. Coordinates hospitalization if necessary.
• Completes pre-procedure evaluations.
• Completes integrated assessments.
• Orders additional tests or consults as deemed appropriate with EM faculty or established protocols.
• Performs and communicates results of diagnostic tests following clinical guidelines and scope of practice.
• Collaborates with DEM clinic and hospital staff regarding abnormal findings.
• Documents plan of care and evaluations in the medical record.
• Coordinates discharge planning and referrals for outpatient follow-up when applicable.
