GENERAL OVERVIEW

Provides emergency medical care to sick and injured patients in pre-hospital and hospital settings. Effectively communicates with all involved persons and departments in the administration of emergency medical care.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Determines the nature and extent of illness or injury; provides basic life support and transports critically ill and injured patients in the prehospital setting. (50%)
2. Drives emergency vehicle. (20%)
3. Completes required documentation according to regulatory standards. (15%)
4. Maintains equipment and inventory of supplies, including BLS and ALS, and is accountable for medications on each EMS unit per regulatory standards. (15%)
5. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

• High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience/training; or equivalent education and experience.
• PA EMT certification.
• EMSVO within 30 days of hire.
• Valid Driver's License.
• CPR – American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance.

Preferred

• Six months’ experience in prehospital care.
• ITLS/PHTLS, ABLS, ASLS certifications.
