Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician for Danbury Hospital to administer emergent and non-emergent pre-hospital care and transportation services.

The role requires CT EMT/AEMT licenses, CPR certification, and at least six months of experience, with 12-hour rotating shifts and full-time schedule. You will safely operate EMS transport, document patient data, and maintain equipment readiness while ensuring compliance and patient care quality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Current/valid CT license to operate a motor vehicle.
• Compliance with random drug screening program.
• AHA, ARC or NSC BLS CPR (or CPR-Instructor) certificate with current renewal date.
• CME/educational material completion as assigned; medical control affiliations per Danbury Hospital.
• CT DPH EMT/AEMT certification; current Basic license (0–6 months at level 1) or EMT-Intermediate (6–12 months at level 2).
• Minimum experience: six months.

Responsibilities

• Administers pre-hospital emergency and non-emergent care and transportation services to sick or injured persons.
• Safely fulfills all patient care responsibilities related to patient conveyance.
• Document details of patient conveyance promptly following guidelines.
• Safely maintains equipment for readiness.
• Operates vehicles safely during patient conveyance.
• Provide high-quality medical transportation to wheelchair and livery patients as needed.
• Complete CME/Educational material on time as assigned by the service.
• May participate in orientation and training of new employees.
• Maintains crew quarters and participates in training of students.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicles and equipment.
• Recommends operational changes to lead staff.
