Job summary

The City of Las Cruces is seeking an EMT with NM EMT-B certification to respond to EMS calls, assess patients, provide basic life support, and transport patients to facilities. You will maintain equipment, document care, and stay current with EMS protocols.

A valid NM EMT-B license and BLS certification are required; a Class D driver’s license and clean driving record are also needed. Preference for higher licenses; information via [e-mail].

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED PLUS one (1) year of experience in an emergency medical care setting.
• A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy.
• Current and valid New Mexico Emergency Medical Technician – Basic license is required.
• Current and valid Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls, quickly and efficiently respond to emergency calls, often under stressful conditions.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and physical examinations; Administer medical care, provide basic life support (BLS), including CPR, AND First Aid.
• Safely transport patients to appropriate medical facilities, ensuring patient comfort and safety during transit.
• Inspect and maintain vehicles, apparatus, medical equipment and supplies.
• Accurately document patient care, including assessment findings, treatments provided, and patient outcomes.
• Stay current with emergency medical care protocols and procedures through ongoing training and education.
