Job summary

LIFECARE - NURSECARE is seeking an EMT to provide high-quality patient care and safe transport within the EMS framework. You will operate ambulances, complete electronic patient care reports, and communicate effectively with dispatch and hospital teams.

Strong teamwork, calm under pressure, and adherence to HIPAA and infection-control standards are essential. Eligible candidates must hold MA or NH EMT credentials and BLS CPR, with NREMT as required, and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Current MA or NH EMT certification/license.
• BLS CPR certification from an approved provider.
• NREMT certification when required for state credentials.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to operate ambulances and electronic documentation systems.
• Successful completion of required background screening, orientation, and training.

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and provide BLS care within the EMT scope, including CPR, AED use, airway management, and oxygen administration.
• Safely transport patients between hospitals, facilities, residences, and other locations.
• Assist with patient lifting, transfers, positioning, and securing using approved equipment.
• Operate ambulances safely in accordance with traffic laws and policies.
• Document accurate ePCRs and provide clear handoffs to healthcare staff.
• Communicate with dispatch regarding assignments, transport status, delays, and concerns.
• Report incidents and safety concerns promptly; protect HIPAA/privacy.

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care & TransportationAssess, monitor, and provide BLS care within the EMT scope of practice, including CPR, AED use, airway management, and oxygen administration.Recognize changes in patient condition and request additional medical assistance when necessary.Safely transport patients between hospitals, healthcare facilities, residences, and other approved locations.Assist with patient lifting, transfers, positioning, and securement using approved equipment and safety procedures.Operate ambulances safely in accordance with traffic laws and company policies.Follow applicable EMS protocols, infection-control standards, and patient safety procedures.Documentation & CommunicationComplete accurate and timely electronic Patient Care Reports (ePCRs).Provide clear patient handoff reports to receiving healthcare professionals.Communicate with dispatch regarding assignments, transport status, delays, and operational concerns.Promptly report incidents, safety concerns, and changes in patient condition.Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.Ambulance Operations & ProfessionalismConduct pre-shift vehicle, equipment, and supply inspections.Clean, disinfect, restock, and maintain ambulances and medical equipment.Report equipment malfunctions, vehicle defects, and supply shortages.Work collaboratively with EMT partners, dispatchers, supervisors, and healthcare staff.Maintain professionalism, punctuality, sound judgment, and a patient-centered approach.Participate in required training, continuing education, and competency evaluations.RequiredCurrent, valid Massachusetts OR New Hampshire EMT certification/license.Must be eligible and willing to obtain and maintain EMT credentials in BOTH Massachusetts AND New Hampshire within the timeframe established by LifeCare Ambulance.Current BLS CPR certification from an approved training provider.National Registry (NREMT) certification when required for applicable state credentials.High school diploma or GED.Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.Knowledge of BLS patient care, assessment, and EMS protocols.Ability to safely operate ambulances, patient transport equipment, and electronic documentation systems.Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.Ability to remain calm, professional, and attentive in demanding situations.Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.Successful completion of required background screening, orientation, and company training.PreferredPrevious EMT, ambulance, or interfacility transportation experience.Familiarity with electronic Patient Care Reporting (ePCR) systems.Knowledge of the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire service areas.Newly certified EMTs are encouraged to apply.
