Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking Emergency Medical Technicians to provide timely and competent EMS care in prehospital and hospital environments. You will communicate effectively with all departments involved in emergency medical care and ensure patient transport and handoffs meet regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include operating emergency vehicles, assessing illness or injury, performing BLS/ALS duties, documenting actions, and maintaining equipment and medications.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• PA EMT license or EMS Compact Privilege to Practice in Pennsylvania at the EMT level.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured patients in the prehospital and hospital environment; effectively communicates with all persons and departments involved in the administration of emergency medical care.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drives emergency vehicle. (20%)
• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury; provide basic life support and transport to the critically ill and injured in the prehospital setting. (50%)
• Completes required documentation according to regulatory standards. (15%)
• Maintains equipment and inventory of supplies including BLS and ALS and has accountability for medications on every EMS unit per regulatory standards. (15%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• PA EMT license or EMS Compact Privilege to Practice in Pennsylvania at the EMT level

Preferred

• Six months' experience in the field of prehospital care.
• ITLS/PHTLS, ABLS, ASLS

• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
