Job summary

OhioHealth is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician to provide primary BLS Life Support care, including evaluation, treatment and stabilization of critically ill or injured patients during transport. You will work closely with physicians and nursing staff to relay patient information on arrival or before transporting.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, vital signs monitoring, equipment maintenance, and routine documentation.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED required.
  • Specialized knowledge includes patient assessment, airway management, bleeding control, splint application, equipment and protocol knowledge, scope of practice, and EMT level medications.

  • Maintain ambulances and equipment in proper working order and ensure reports are documented.

Job Description Summary: Provide primary BLS Life Support Care to include medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization of the critically ill and injured as well as on-going monitoring of patient’s vitals during transport. This will require working directly with physicians and nursing staff to inform and receive patient information regarding the patient’s condition on arrival or prior to transporting.

Responsibilities And Duties
  • 60% - Performs primary job responsibilities listed for Emergency Medical Technician to include response, patient assessment, vital signs, patient monitoring and diagnostics, patient moving and lifting, medication administration.
  • 20% - Maintaining Equipment in proper working order.
  • 10% - Daily cleaning to include mandatory weekly disinfecting of ambulances/equipment and station.
  • 10% - Report writing and documentation.
