Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Represents the ambulance service while on duty at public events and provides standby services.
• Assists with advanced life support (ALS) tasks with paramedics.
• Cares for patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crises.
• Documents full assessments and treatments in patient care charting software.
• Serves as a two-member ambulance crew member on calls.
• Assesses injury/illness and prioritizes medical procedures.
• Drives and operates emergency vehicles to locations safely.
• Communicates with receiving facilities for treatment instructions.
• Stabilizes, immobilizes, and moves patients as needed.
• Maintains equipment inspection schedules and decontaminates ambulance after transport.
• Complies with safety policies and risk-reduction measures.

**Summary** Performs basic life support (BLS) services and assists in emergency medical, traumatic, psychiatric care, and stabilization for patients in accidents or illness scenes and during transportation to medical facilities and/or during interfacility transports. **Job Duties*** Represents the ambulance service while on duty at public service functions, expositions, and other public events and provides ambulance stand by services, when necessary.* Assists with advanced life support (ALS ) services for paramedic partners with patients requiring higher levels of care along with emergency scene management and coordination with other emergency services.* Cares for patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crisis by providing medical, traumatic, and therapeutic services.* Documents full assessment and treatments in patient care charting software.* Serves as a member of a two member ambulance crew responding to emergency and nonemergency calls.* Assesses the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed.* Responds to instructions from a dispatcher and drives and operates specially equipped emergency vehicles to specified locations at a safe and controlled speed.* Communicates with professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facility to obtain instructions regarding treatment.* Stabilizes, immobilizes, lifts, and moves victims from scene of accident or catastrophe.* Establishes an equipment inspection schedule and verifies that all equipment is being inspected and reviewed for compliance and makes recommendations for risk reductions on workplace injuries.
