Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; higher education preferred.
• SC EMT and NREMT certifications preferred.
• BCLS certification required or in place.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' conditions to determine appropriate emergency care.
• Provide CPR, airway management, oxygen therapy, bleeding control, and other BLS interventions.
• Administer first aid and manage medical emergencies during injuries or illness.
• Safely transport patients to healthcare facilities using emergency vehicles.
• Complete patient care reports complying with legal and regulatory standards.
• Communicate with patients, families, healthcare providers, and emergency response teams.
• Maintain and stock all medical equipment, supplies, and vehicles.
• Follow safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in ongoing training and certification maintenance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Assesses, transports and administers basic life support treatment to ill and injured persons in accordance with department, system and DHEC policies, procedures and standards.

Essential Functions

• Assesses patients’ conditions to determine appropriate emergency care.
• Provides CPR, airway management, oxygen therapy, bleeding control, and other basic life support interventions.
• Administers first aid, manage medical emergencies, and provide support during traumatic injuries or illness.
• Safely transport patients to healthcare facilities using emergency vehicles while adhering to traffic laws and organizational policies.
• Completes patient care reports, maintaining compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
• Communicates e with patients, families, healthcare providers, and emergency response teams.
• Ensures all medical equipment, supplies, and vehicles are properly maintained, stocked, and operational.
• Follows all safety protocols, infection control procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Participates in ongoing training, skill development, and certification maintenance to ensure clinical competency.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned preferred.
