Wellpath in Texas seeks an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to provide essential medical care to inmate patients in the correctional facility. This role performs initial medical examinations at intake and responds to everyday medical issues with urgency and professionalism.

You will be accountable for CPR, documenting medical history, maintaining equipment, protecting patient confidentiality under HIPAA, and collaborating with physicians and jail staff.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Requires completion of an EMT or Paramedic course.
• Unrestricted current state certification/registration.

Responsabilités

• Provide emergency medical response and basic life support to inmate patients in the facility, using CPR and equipment.
• Assess and document medical history and treatment of inmate patients; administer prescribed treatments as needed.
• Maintain and sterilize equipment for examinations and assist physicians during procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Communicate clearly with coworkers, jail administration and patients; willing to assist in duties and overtime.

How you make a difference

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)providesessential medical care to inmate patients withincorrectional facilities. This includes conducting initial medical examinations upon in-take and responding to day-to-day medical issues that may arise among the inmate population. Additionally, EMTs must be prepared to respond to medical emergencies that may occur within the facility,providingcritical care to patients in need.

Key Responsibilities

• Provideemergency medical response and basic life support to inmate patients in thecorrectional facility,utilizingCPR and necessary equipment.

• Assess and document the medical history and treatment of new and current inmate patients, administering prescribed treatments and medications as needed.

• Ensure equipment ismaintainedand sterilized for use during examinations andtreatments, andassistphysicians or physician extenders during procedures.

• Maintain patient confidentiality andcomply withHIPAA regulations, while being aware of emergency procedures and crisis situations.

• Communicate clearly and concisely with coworkers, supervisors, jail administration and patients, and be willing toassistin job duties and work overtime if necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• High school graduate or G.E.D.·

• Requires successful completion of an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic course.

Experience

• Prior experience in a correctional or jail setting preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

• Requires unrestricted current certification or registration in state of practice.
