Job summary

Sinai Residences in Boca Raton, FL seeks an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) for PRN on-call coverage. The EMR provides rapid emergency care to residents and supports life safety, security, and concierge operations.

Essential duties include emergency response with airway management, ventilation, CPR, oxygen, and trauma care; addressing medical complaints; and assisting with security and Fire Life Safety rounds and drills. Compensation starts at $22/hour with weekend and weekday differentials.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Emergency Medical Responder’s (EMR) PRN primary responsibility is to answer emergency calls, providing efficient and immediate care to ill and injured residents. The EMR is also responsible for carrying out life safety, security, concierge responsibilities.

PRN ( On Call) Pay rate: $22 (plus Differential)

$3.00 per hour for weekend overnight shift 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

$0.75 per hour for the 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. shift (WEEKDAYS Shift Differentials)

$1.00 per hour for the 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. shift (WEEKDAYS Shift Differentials)

Essential Job Duties:

1. Emergency Response:
   
   
   
   1. Using a limited amount of equipment, the EMR will render emergency medical care based on assessment findings. Care may include:
   
   
   
   
   • Opening and maintaining an airway
   
   
   • Ventilating patients
   
   
   • Administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation
   
   
   • Administering Oxygen
   
   
   • Providing emergency medical care of simple and multiple system trauma such as:
     
     
     
     • Controlling hemorrhage
     
     
     • Bandaging wounds
     
     
     • Manually stabilizing injured extremities
     
     
     
     
   
   
   • Addressing general medical complaints, altered mental status, seizures, environmental emergencies, behavioral emergencies and psychological crises.
   
   
   
   

Prior to rendering patient care, identify the mechanism of injury or nature of illness, the total number of patients and requests additional help, if necessary.

Determine when additional support is needed and act accordingly. This includes:

1. Identifying assessment findings that may require communicating with on-call provider for guidance.


2. Providing ongoing assessment of resident and administer additional care while awaiting additional EMS resources.


3. Verbally reporting observations and emergency medical care rendered to the responding EMS unit.


4. Assessing the extent of injury and renders care while awaiting EMS providers.


5. Contacting other EMR and or Security for additional help when necessary.


6. Performing basic triage when required.

Conduct post-call activities including:

1. Complete an Event Report


2. Restock and replace used supplies


3. Clean and disinfect all equipment following appropriate disinfecting procedures


4. Carefully checks all equipment to ensure it is in working order the availability for the next response

Function within the scope of care as defined by state, regional and local regulatory agencies;

Comply with regulations on the handling of the deceased, protection of property and evidence at the scene, while awaiting additional EMS resources.

Other Responsibilities

• Perform security sweeps to ensure secure access points remain locked.


• Perform Fire Life Safety Rounds.


• Assist with emergency evacuation drills and training.


• Answer Concierge desk phones in a courteous and professional manner.

3. Other Duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must hold an active EMT/EMR or Paramedic certification


2. Must hold active certification of CPR, BLS


3. Must have a strong 6 months to 1 year working experience.


4. Ability to function in uncommon situations while remaining calm;


5. Able to apply basic knowledge of stress response and methods to ensure personal well-being;


6. Ability to apply principles of body substance isolation.


7. Ability to apply basic medical-legal principles as they pertain to the EMR role;


8. Excellent customer service skills


9. Ability to work well with many people and adapt to diverse situations


10. Ability to maintain a professional work environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, and squatting; must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, squat, and stand.
