Job summary

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) seeks a qualified candidate to support the FEMA Operations Center (FOC) at MWEOC by executing mass-notification alerts to government entities and coordinating emergency communications.

The role requires organizing, drafting SOPs, briefings for senior leadership, and maintaining operation checklists to ensure rapid, reliable warning and response during all-hazards incidents.

Job description

This position is located in the FEMA Operations Center Branch (FOC) at the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center (MWEOC). The ideal candidate works executing mass-notification alerts or warnings to national, state, or local government departments, agencies, installations or facilities. The incumbent has the capability needed to save and sustain lives, minimize suffering, and protect property in a timely and effective manner.

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Executing mass-notification alerts or warnings to national, state, or local government departments, agencies, installations or facilities.; and Drafting, updating, revising and maintaining operational checklists, standard operating procedures, or policy guidance documents for use in an emergency operations center; and Preparing and delivering briefings and presentations to senior leadership and other Interagency senior executives in an all-hazards environment.
