Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in North Hills, Pittsburgh is seeking a Kennel Assistant for our Emergency Department with flexibility to assist other departments as needed. Pay ranges from $15.95 to $18.33 per hour, starting at a band dependent on experience, with compensation for VTS credentialing and nightly/weekend shift differentials.

The role includes basic patient care tasks, animal handling, and hospital upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients for health concerns and report findings to senior staff.
• Clean and disinfect hospital areas and equipment as needed.
• Prepare patient meals, clean cages and bedding, maintain litter boxes.
• Safely restrain cooperative patients during treatments.
• Provide routine attention to patients, including walking dogs.
• Maintain and clean hospital equipment and tools.
• Quantify patient voids and report findings to senior staff.
• Remove and wash soiled laundry and keep laundry stocked.
• Patrol facility to ensure cleanliness.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in North Hills, Pittsburgh is seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant primarily for our Emergency Department , with the ability to circulate to other departments as needed.

Pay:

$15.95 - $18.33 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through leveling system.

Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.00 Shift Differential

A Kennel Assistant attends to the basic needs of animals that are patients of the hospital and cleans the hospital facility, equipment, and tools. The role may include assistance with basic patient care such as the safe restraint of patients during treatment.

As a Kennel Assistant, you will:

• Observe patients for obvious signs of health concerns and report any findings to senior staff.
• Clean and disinfect areas of the hospital as often as is necessary to maintain high standards of care.
• Prepare patient meals, clean patient cages , and bedding, and maintain litter boxes.
• Safely approach and restrain cooperative patients as needed during treatments.
• Provide routine attention to patients, including walking dogs.
• Effectively clean and maintain hospital equipment and tools.
• Quantify patient voids and report findings to senior Veterinary Assistant or Technician.
• Remove and wash soiled laundry and keep clean laundry stocked.
• Patrol facility regularly to ensure cleanliness.
