Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists Miami, a 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital in Miami, FL, seeks a Veterinary Technician for the Emergency/ICU team. The role requires 1–2 years of clinical experience in a specialty service; licensure as a veterinary technician is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of clinical experience in a specialty service is required.
• A degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsabilités

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients
• Assist the Emergency and ICU teams to maximize productivity and maintain efficient patient flow
• Perform patient assessments, triage, IV catheter placement, blood collection, and treatment preparation
• Monitor hospitalized and critically ill patients, recognizing and communicating changes in patient status
• Administer medications, fluids, blood products, and treatments as directed by veterinarians and within Florida Veterinary Practice Act guidelines
• Operate and monitor medical equipment including infusion pumps, oxygen therapy devices, ECG monitors, and other critical care equipment
• Assist with emergency procedures, CPR, and stabilization efforts
• Communicate with clients regarding treatment plans, patient updates, medications, and Thrive Membership options
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records utilizing hospital practice management systems
• Obtain relevant patient histories and client information
• Use safe restraint techniques and uphold hospital safety protocols
• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary treatment and ICU areas
• Mentor and support fellow team members while contributing to a positive hospital culture
