Job summary

Larkin Street Youth Services in San Francisco seeks a Program Specialist (Emergency Housing) to screen applications, interview clients, and coordinate with hotels. This 100% onsite role supports youth experiencing homelessness and ensures the safety and operations of the Lark Inn Shelter.

You will engage a diverse client population, apply crisis-de-escalation techniques, and promote life skills training through counseling and motivational interviewing.

Qualifications

• Experience with direct-services in social services or related fields.
• Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive, self-motivated with strong reliability.
• Comfort with onsite/in-person work environment.

Responsibilities

• Engage a diverse client population with a range of issues.
• De-escalate crises and support clients emotionally and socially.
• Provide life skills training through coaching and motivational interviewing.
• Promote community wellness using harm reduction approaches.
• Ensure safety and security of clients, staff, and facility.
• Maintain facility cleanliness and operations, including meals and storage.
• Document client information via intake and data systems.
• Participate in professional development to enhance skills.
• Collaborate with staff and partner agencies to ensure service continuity.
• Advocate for new youth entering the Lark-Inn.
