Job summary

Waterbury Hospital is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Nurse Manager to lead clinical and operational aspects of the ED 24/7. This role partners with the Director to ensure safe, high-quality patient care, manages staffing and resources, and promotes a culture of teamwork and excellence.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in acute care nursing with proven leadership, and a BSN or higher. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for success in this fast-paced

Qualifications

• Current RN license in CT or license eligible.
• BSN or bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of acute care nursing experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Current managerial/supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and operational leadership for the ED, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, resources, and daily operations to support 24/7 needs.
• Lead, coach, and develop nursing staff with focus on engagement and growth.
• Partner with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to promote effective patient care and flow.
• Monitor quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and patient outcomes.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, competency development, and performance management.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve patient care, efficiency, and department performance.
