Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a part-time Scribe to document physician encounters in the medical record for the Emergency Department in Wheeling. The role supports patient care by recording histories, exams and procedures under physician supervision.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma and strong typing, software, and communication skills. Evening and weekend shifts may be required to ensure coverage in a busy ED setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Background checks as required for regulated areas.

Responsibilities

• Scribes document history of present illness, past medical history, medications and other chart elements for physician approval.
• Scribe accompanies clinician to transcribe history and physical as given by patient and practitioner.
• Document procedures performed by physician or nurses in the medical chart.
• Transcribe consultations or discussions with family and/or other physicians.
• Gather lab and radiology results and other data; data reviewed by clinician before entry into the chart.
