Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Milton is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to perform EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, splinting, and patient assistance in a busy ED. You will support nurses and physicians, transport patients and specimens, and help maintain supplies and equipment in a collaborative team setting.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and BLS certification, with preferred EMT/Paramedic/CNA/MA training and basic computer/EMR familiarity.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Experience with computer systems and MS Office applications.
  • EMT/Paramedic/CNA/Medical Assistant training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and complete tasks delegated by nurses and physicians in a fast-paced ED.
  • Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, splinting, and daily living activities.
  • Assist providers and transport patients and specimens as needed.
  • Conduct phlebotomy and point-of-service lab testing; document results.
  • Maintain supplies and ensure equipment is cleaned and ready.

Maintains a calm and professional demeanor work while working in fast pace, highly demanding environment. (essential)* Performs a variety of duties including EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, splinting, crutch walking, and patient activities of daily living. Assists providers in the delivery of care and assists patients who have physical and psychological limitations, transport patients and specimens.* Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection and point of service lab testing according to protocol and quality control standards. Communicates results to the appropriate staff and documents in the medical record.* Maintains supply inventory needed to maintain daily operations. Stocks supplies, linen or office goods. Ensures used equipment is cleaned by appropriate process and is ready for the next patient.* It is understood that this is a summary of key job functions and does not include every detail of the job that may reasonably be required.**Required Qualifications:*** High School diploma or GED required* Basic Life Support certification with American Heart Association* Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint**Preferred Qualifications:*** EMT, Paramedic, Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant training* Nursing student with completion of one clinical rotation or other direct patient care experience* 1-3 years related work experience preferred**Pay Range:**$19.50 - $26.24The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
