Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an Emergency Department Technician II to assist under the direction of a Registered Nurse and Nurse Manager. The role focuses on multi-skilled tasks that support a patient-centered approach and safe, efficient care in a fast-paced ED.

Shifts are 3 twelve-hour days per week, including weekends and holidays. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and relevant clinical credentials or experience.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year in a .6 FTE ED Technician I position at MUSC.
• Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, CMA, Paramedic, or CPT.
• Experience in a military medical occupation.
• At least 1 year of inpatient hospital experience.
• A college degree.
• Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized, patient-centered approach to care.
• Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, supports the Nurse Manager and ED team.
• Adheres to hospital policies and safety standards and participates in shift handoffs.

Minimum Training and Education:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required and at least one of the following must be met:

• At least 1 year in a .6 FTE ED Technician I position at MUSC
• Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, CMA, Paramedic, or Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
• Experience in a military medical occupation
• At least 1 year of inpatient hospital experience
• A college degree
• Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
• Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider required and must be maintained.
