Job summary

The Emergency Department Technician II at MUHA provides multi-skilled support under the supervision of an RN, contributing to a patient-centered care approach in the ED. The role reports to the Nurse Manager and supports desired outcomes through hands-on assistance and teamwork.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, plus at least one year of patient care experience or related healthcare coursework, and must obtain BLS certification within two weeks of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred experience as Patient Care Tech, CNA, or nursing student with Adult Medical/Surgical course and hands-on clinicals.
• Minimum 1 year of patient care experience in a health care environment.
• Within six months of hire, pass online modules, phlebotomy training and skills validation, and EKG training.
• ED Technician unit training and competency must be completed within the first six months.
• Position may require irregular hours, rotating shifts, holidays and weekends; disciplinary actions may apply for policy non-compliance.
• Copy of academic degree or transcript may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized, patient-centered approach to care.
• Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, provide assistance to achieve desired outcomes.
• Support Emergency Department operations and patient flow as part of the ED team.
