Job summary

Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, IN, is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to support timely, safe care for patients of all ages in a rural ED. The role may be filled by a CNA, EMT, or paramedic, with tasks assigned by credential and hospital policy.

You will assist with bedside care, monitor patients, perform ECGs, wound care, and support nurses and providers during exams and resuscitations, following hospital procedures and safety standards.

Qualifications

• One current qualifying Indiana credential: CNA on the Indiana Aides Registry, EMT certification, or paramedic licensure, as applicable.
• Current Basic Life Support certification at hire or onboarding period.
• Completion of ED orientation and documented competency for every assigned task.

Responsibilities

• Receive assignments and participate in shift report and huddles.
• Assist patients with positioning, mobility, hygiene, and comfort; support safe transfers.
• Obtain vital signs and observe patient conditions; report abnormalities to the RN.
• Perform ECG acquisition, specimen collection, point of care testing, and IV tasks when approved.
• Assist the RN and provider during examinations, procedures, and resuscitation.
• Observe and document patient status and safety considerations.
• Support patient arrivals, transport, and transfers and communicate needs to the RN.
• Restock treatment spaces and check equipment and supplies.
• Document care accurately in the ED record and hand off tasks clearly.
