Job summary

BJC HealthCare's Christian Hospital in St. Louis is recruiting an enrolled RN student to support nursing teams across emergency and acute care settings, contributing to high-quality patient experiences.

You will assist with patient and family education, document care using correct medical terminology, ensure supplies are available, and help implement direct patient care under supervision, while building clinical skills.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited RN program.
• Completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health).

Responsibilities

• Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities with correct medical terminology. Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
• Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.

Northwest HealthCare, six miles west of Christian, offers 24-hour emergency care, the Sleep Disorders Center and a variety of outpatient diagnostic and imaging services.

The Emergency Department provides primary diagnoses and complaints for patients seen include chest pain, respiratory distress, medical emergencies, seizures, headaches, fevers, lacerations, fractures, urinary tract infections, vaginal bleeding, strokes, and multiple trauma.

Preferred Qualifications

Provides multi-skilled, direct patient care, under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse. This job requires completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health.
