Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Senior Clinical Nurse I for the UMMC Midtown Campus in Baltimore. The role leads nursing care from admission through discharge, coordinating with physicians and other units to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

The ideal candidate will hold a Maryland RN license, a BSN, and current ACLS/PALS/BLS certifications, with substantial ED experience in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Maryland RN license required
• BSN degree required
• ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications required
• Relevant years of ED experience in a hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Understands and follows policies and protocols while helping other staff utilize resources.
• Functions as charge nurse and/or preceptor; resolves issues at unit level with nurse manager.
• Assist others in patient assessments and reassessments; collect data to support nursing diagnoses.
• Develops an individualized Plan of Care with measurable goals and documents thoroughly.
• Coordinates and directs available resources in following the Plan of Care.
• Performs treatments and medications administration as ordered and in line with Plan of Care.
• Evaluates patient response and revises the Plan of Care as needed.
• Documents assessments, changes to Plan of Care, and treatments thoroughly and accurately.
• Assesses teaching needs and plans patient education accordingly.
• Completes patient and family teaching and documents understanding.
• Communicates with health care team to ensure continuity of care and positive patient outcomes.
• Facilitates safe patient throughput including admission/transfer/discharge and diagnostics.
